If you are joining Bella in Saint Malo you can get there by high speed catamaran from Poole or from Portsmouth. If you travel from Poole we will get you back there at the end of your adventure.
We will spend the first night in Saint Malo to ensure that everyone has arrived and to give us the opportunity to settle down and have a crew evening.
Saint-Malo is a port city in Brittany, in France's northwest. Tall granite walls surround the old town, which was once a stronghold for privateers (pirates approved by the king). The Saint-Malo Cathedral, in the center of the old town, is built in Romanesque and Gothic styles and features stained-glass windows depicting city history. Nearby is La Demeure de Corsaire, an 18th-century privateer’s house and museum.
Saint Malo is an amazing place, we will have time to explore both the tourist parts and the more local regions.
Our first passage of this leg will be a 90nm passage to Treguier.
The port is situated about 5½ m. from the English Channel at the confluence of two streams that form the Tréguier River. Tréguier (Trecorum), dates from the sixth century, grew up round a monastery founded by Saint Tudwal (died c. 564). We will have the opportunity to discover some of Treguier.
From Treguier we will be making a 160nm passage across the channel to St. Mary's in the Scilly Iles. This is involve night sailing and typically a beam reach sail. Once in St. Mary's we will be going ashore for the evening.
From St. Mary's we shall set course to the east for 130 nm along the Cornwall and Devon cost to the fishing village of Brixham where we will spend the night before our final passage.
Our final leg will be the 90nm back to our home port of Lymington, this is typically a broach reach run with Spinnakers flying.
On completion of this passage we will be pleased to take you back to Poole if your car has been left there.
You can book yourself on one or both of the legs of this summer adventure.
