This is the first of two legs for Bella’s 2018 summer adventure. We will be starting at Lymington and sailing 130nm to the beautiful fishing port of Honfleur in northern France where we will stay over for an evening to enjoy the bars and restaurants.
Honfleur is a city in the department of Calvados, in northern France's Normandy region. It's on the estuary where the Seine river meets the English Channel. The Vieux-Bassin (old harbor), lined with 16th- to 18th-century townhouses, has been a subject for artists including Claude Monet and native son Eugène Boudin. Nearby is 15th-century St. Catherine's Church, a vaulted timber structure erected by shipbuilders.
To help you in your return Journey we will be happy to collect you from Poole so that you can leave your car there and collect it on your return.
Our second passage on this leg will be a relatively short 70 nm passage along the Normandy coast to another fishing village which, as with Honfleur, is locked and therefore tidal dependant. Again we will have the opportunity to see the local town, explore some of the country side around including seeing some of the historical buildings and the amazing Oyster beds.
From the east cost of the Cape Le Hague we will travel north and around the cape to Guernsey where we will overnight before our passage south to Saint Malo.
Saint-Malo is a port city in Brittany, in France's northwest. Tall granite walls surround the old town, which was once a stronghold for privateers (pirates approved by the king). The Saint-Malo Cathedral, in the center of the old town, is built in Romanesque and Gothic styles and features stained-glass windows depicting city history. Nearby is La Demeure de Corsaire, an 18th-century privateer’s house and museum
Saint Malo is an amazing place, we will have time to explore both the tourist parts and the more local regions.
This adventure has been designed to allow you to see some fantastic places, enjoy some great and diverse sailing and have easy access to join and depart using established transport links
You can book yourself on the whole adventure, if however you choose to book for the first leg then Saint Malo is your port of departure where you can get back to Poole or Portsmouth.
