As you may be aware, in December, Bella of London was lifted out of the water and went into hibernation mode for the cold UK winter. However, she may appear a little different the next time you see her!
With the New Year, came a few changes and Bella is looking fresh and ready for her busy season ahead. With huge races like the Rolex Fastnet and ARC on the agenda, we thought a restoration and a new look wouldn’t go amiss.
Thanks to the help of Robin Milledge and the rest of the fantastic, and not to mention efficient team at Berthon Boat Company, her face-lift has been a great success. Wouldn’t you agree?
Notably the stern tangs have been replaced and the hull has been polished. We have also had the logo redesigned and replaced. But that’s not all, we’ve also added new standing rigging, trimming gear replacements, refreshed the interior and conducted antifouling work.
Her mast does still need to go back up, but this will be completed later on this week to finalise the preparation process, meaning Bella will be fully equipped and ready to take to the sea.
She will be launched on the 5th of February and will be re-commissioned during the following week in readiness for her test sail.
It has been a busy start to the year for Bella and the team, but it is all a vital part of the process to ensure our guests have a safe and comfortable sail, cruise or race with us in 2015.
If you have not yet seen Bella’s event calendar for this year, we’d recommend immersing yourself in our cruising and racing schedules. Please don’t hesitate to enquire with the team regarding any of these events. Whether it’s a smooth sailing cruise or a more intense race, we are always looking for new crew to join in on our adventures.
We still have places available for Season Opener sails kicking off in February, and with the new, fresh Bella, it should be a cruise to remember! Our skipper Mike can be contacted on 0207 305 5000 or alternatively send your enquiry to the team via our contact form.
